But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
When we follow God and try to be like Him, we will start to show these good qualities. Like when you’re happy and excited, that’s joy. When you’re calm and not worried, that’s peace. When you’re patient and wait for things, that’s patience. When you’re nice and helpful to others, that’s kindness. When you’re good and do what’s right, that’s goodness. When you’re faithful and keep your promises, that’s faithfulness. When you’re gentle and not too rough, that’s gentleness. And when you can control yourself and make good choices, that’s self-control.
So, these good qualities that are described in the verse are what we call “the fruit of the Spirit” and it’s what God wants us to have and show to others.
